Data sources and methodology
Where our town profiles and market context come from, and what we won't claim.
Town profiles are built from a combination of public data (US Census, NYS GIS, municipal websites), publicly available real estate market data, on-the-ground research, and editorial judgement. Each profile lists its sources in the editor record and references them where claims are made.
We do not store MLS listing data. We do not produce automated home valuations. We do not publish school rankings — we treat school district as a planning input and recommend confirmation with official district sources.
We err on the side of saying less when we are not certain. If you spot something that needs correction, please reach out.
